Weaver Shines In Tale Of Hard Won Tolerance

Prayers For Bobby A Mothers Coming To Terms With The Suicide Of Her Gay Son

Outstanding performances abound in this moving drama about a mother who realizes too late that the unconditional love for her gay son is more important to their faith in a homophobic and vindictive view of God. Based on a true story detailed in the 1995 book Prayers For Bobby by the end of gay journalist Leroy Aarons, the film is an undeniable tour de force for Sigourney Weaver, which portrays the rigidly devout devastated mother and, ultimately, with an intensity of subjects first and passion.
